On Tuesday the whole of Bulls School walked down past the Bulls Domain to visit Parewahawaha Marae.  We went to the marae to experience maori culture.

When we first arrived at the marae we were welcomed on with a karang then after that we went inside the marae and listened to the tangata whenua speak.

After that Papa Doug explained the hongi.  A hongi is when you gently press your nose with another person and for a short moment in time you breathe the same air.

Next we had our morning tea then moved into our activities.  The activities were string games, rakau, waiata with Papa Doug, myths and legends weaving, poi making, feathers and whanau koru art.

We had shared kai which was served in the wharekai.  The lunch was delicious!  We had fruit, savories and home baking.

Bulls School walked back to school at the end of the day.   We were tired but we had lots of fun.

By the awesome students of Room 4 literacy class (shared writing).
