True Blue Kiwi Kids, Mate

One of our inquiry tasks was to translate a list of 'Kiwi-isms' (slang).

The Room 4 literacy group were then set the task of using these words in context, here's what they came up with.....

"I was walking down the road and I saw a funny looking bloke, he asked me where the dunny was"
William

"The bloke got so annoyed that he was stuck in the middle of the wop wops that he had a big hissyfit!"
Conner

"I was feeling hungry, so I went back to the bach for some brekkie, I wanted to buy some but I was too skint."
Toby

".....the hissyfit was so loud that the building came down, SMASH! Glass, brick and wood were everywhere, the road was cracked and people were screaming. That was the end of the bloke who got stuck on the dunny."
Ciara

"After I went to the dunny I had a squiz around the town, I was stuck in a place that was far out in the wop wops."
Sophie

"A bloke who was feeling crook came to ask me where the nearest dunny was. I said, 'You're in the wop wops but the closet dunny is around the corner on the left'. He said 'Good as gold mate!'"
Jake

"It was finally smoko time, I'm off to the dairy! I hope I'm not too skint!"
Cole
