On Friday Miss Bailey and Mrs Morris we super proud of the Middle Hub students as almost everyone presented their Passion Project which had been completed for home learning over the last few weeks. It was awesome to see such'creative flair' within the team.   Check out just a few below.  We also had 'Meet the teacher' on Friday after school which also doubled as the opening of the new fort on the senior playground.  Bulls School is very lucky to have such a large outdoor area which is continually being developed.  We have a fitness track, covered sand pit, junior playground, senior playground with an eagles nest and a swing and now a fort fit for a king!!!

On Tuesday the whole of Bulls School walked down past the Bulls Domain to visit Parewahawaha Marae.  We went to the marae to experience maori culture.

When we first arrived at the marae we were welcomed on with a karang then after that we went inside the marae and listened to the tangata whenua speak.

After that Papa Doug explained the hongi.  A hongi is when you gently press your nose with another person and for a short moment in time you breathe the same air.

Next we had our morning tea then moved into our activities.  The activities were string games, rakau, waiata with Papa Doug, myths and legends weaving, poi making, feathers and whanau koru art.

We had shared kai which was served in the wharekai.  The lunch was delicious!  We had fruit, savories and home baking.

Bulls School walked back to school at the end of the day.   We were tired but we had lots of fun.

Statistics

Last week we started to learn about Pie Graphs.  We used the website Create A Graph to display our data.  This week we will be conducting our own investigation and displaying the data using a graph of our choice.

Our Class Treaty

Last Friday the Middle Hub got together to create our very important Treaty.  We read the "The Tree Hut Treaty" prior to this and learnt that a treaty is an agreement or a promise.  We discussed how we want our team to operate.  Lots of our discussion came back to our PRIDE values which was awesome!   Here is a short clip of a couple of students promising to follow the rules of the treaty.

A visit from a few chicks!

Mrs Morris' literacy class were super lucky to have a visit from a few cute and fluffy little chicks from Lauren's farm.  We were lucky enough to have a hold of them.  We talked about what we saw, how they felt and what we heard then did a shared piece of descriptive writing.  Mrs Morris was super impressed with the way Lauren showed the rest of the students how to hold and care for the chicks - thank you Lauren!

Athletics

The Middle Hub are getting ready to run, jump and throw the best we can for our upcoming athletics day.  It has been so hot we had to move our athletics sessions from a Thursday afternoon to a Friday morning!  Check out a few action shots below.

Milk in Schools

Today we started  Milk in Schools.  We recapped how to fold our milk cartons then had milk outside this afternoon before having a bit of free play on our fancy playground!  Here is the video - just in case you forget how to fold it!

What colour is your lunchbox?

We are learning about Statistics in Maths to start off the term.

Today we created a bar graph to show the most popular lunchbox colours.

Write a most/least or equal statement about our graph to share your knowledge with us....
